prA INSTRUCTIONS 

Applicants must take the PRA within two (2) months after being invited. All events must be passed in order to continue in the selection process.

The event will begin promptly at the listed start time. Please arrive early for check-in. Late arrivals will not be permitted. If you fail to report on-time, you will be barred from re-applying for six (6) months.

REQUIRED ITEMS

  • Valid government issued drivers license
  • Completed "Informed Consent and Certification" waiver
    • The form must contain two emergency contacts
    • DO NOT sign/date the form until you are instructed to do so at the event
  • Hydration
  • Inhaler (if needed)​
  • Please refrain from bringing any other items (bags, purses, etc.) 

ATTIRE REQUIREMENTS

  • A short sleeve t-shirt is required (shoulders must be covered). Spaghetti straps and/or tank tops may ONLY be worn as an undergarment.
  • Knee length shorts are required (NO MORE THAN 2" above or below the knee).
    • Compression type material (including yoga, spandex, and/or leggings) may ONLY be used as an undergarment.
  • Long hair must be tied in a ponytail.
  • Watches are acceptable, however, earrings, bracelets and loose fitting jewelry is not permitted.
  • Obscene/vulgar tattoos must be covered.

IF TESTING AT OUR POLICE ACADEMY

​DO NOT ROAM THE ACADEMY GROUNDS UNLESS ESCORTED BY AN OFFICER. WAIT FOR AN OFFICER IN THE BREEZEWAY OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING TO BE CHECKED IN.
  • Free parking is located at the Honolulu Police Training Academy. When entering the academy, make an immediate right turn into the "Recruit Parking" area. Please fill the parking lot from the entrance gate side.DO NOT park in red zones, or stalls designated as "Staff Parking."​ ​
  • On Waipahu Depot Street, sometimes a line forms for the City & County Refuse Center. If able to do so safely, proceed to the left of the vehicle line to access the police academy.​​
  • Do not bring any valuables with you or leave them in your vehicle. The HPD is not responsible should any items be lost, damaged or stolen.

  • Check-in will be behind McCoy Pavilion (next to tennis court 6)
  • Free parking is located throughout Ala Moana Beach park and next to the tennis courts.

FAILURES/RE-TESTS


​Should an applicant not successfully pass every event, they will be required to attend the very next PRA session and re-test only the events which they did not pass. If an applicant attempts the re-test and fails, or does not take advantage of the re-test opportunity, they will no longer be considered for the position and will need to submit a new application and restart the application process once six (6) months have passed from your last written exam.
