This position will receive orientation in and learn the basic functions, principles, concepts, work processes, methods, techniques, and reference materials used in the Scientific Investigation Section; and assist at crime scenes or with processing of case subjects. The incumbent may testify in court proceedings regarding work performed.
Minimum Qualification Requirements for the Class:

Training and Experience:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major work in the physical, biological or forensic sciences.

License Requirement:
​Possession of a valid Hawaii driver's license, Type 3. Certificate of medical clearance for Respirator use (within 6 months of employment).

The Professional Trainee I will be assigned to the Latent Print Unit, to complete the unit’s in-house training program. The trainee will receive hands-on instruction in the use of the Automated Fingerprint identification System (AFIS) for identification of fingerprints.

The Computer Operator I is under the direct supervision of the Video Management Unit (VMU) Sergeant and must adhere to the State and City laws and ordinances, departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures. This position performs processing and technical duties pertaining to the VMU's operations. Must have knowledge of computer functions and capabilities.
Minimum Qualification Requirements

Training and Experience:  
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of experience in an office environment which demonstrated effective use of personal computers, peripheral equipment, and applications such as word processing and electronic mail.

Contract will be responsible for fulling requests for police incidents, in the forms of internal HPD, outside agency, and external public requests. To include microfilmed and digitalized documents; perform redactions as necessary to meet legal requirements in order to fulfill requests. Provide information and assistance to HPD personnel and the public regarding redactions and fulfilling police report request.

Finance Division

Contract located at the Main Police Station

This position is in the Payroll Section of the Finance Division. The incumbent is responsible for auditing and processing the department's payroll and payroll source documents in compliance with federal, state, county, and union statutes; rules and regulations under the procedures of the city's centralized payroll system. The incumbent is also responsible for the maintenance of the master employee pay record control files and its related correspondence, reports, and maintenance of substantiating payroll documents, etc.
Minimum Qualification Requirements for the Class:
 
Training and Experience:  A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school AND
 
Grade I:  Three years of clerical experience, one of which shall have involved purchasing, payroll, account recordkeeping, the preparation and processing of vouchers and statements, or similar activities.

Traffic Division
Operates a panel truck and collects money deposited in the parking meters on the curb and in off-street parking facilities. Lifts and pushes cart with storage box (up to 200 pounds) on uneven and sometimes uphill terrain (5-8 miles). Lifts cart filled with storage cans about 35 times into and out of assigned vehicles.
Contract approved till June 30, 2026. Option for renewal. ​
