Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be scheduled to take a written examination.
The city's Department of Human Resources (DHR) will send an admission letter to the address provided on the application via U.S. mail of when and where to report for the City’s civil service written examination. Expect this letter about 7 days prior to the examination date.
The examination is a timed, multiple-choice exam. It covers observation and memory, written communication/report writing, reading and understanding written information, and reasoning/analytical ability. DHR will mail examination results.
Exams will be ranked by score and applicants will be placed on an eligibility list for 1 year. The Honolulu Police Department will process applicants accordingly.
Be sure DHR has current contact information. Applicants may reapply if they fail or miss the examination.
The next step: Orientation, Personal History Statement (PHS), Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ)
If you are still interested, please take the time to submit an interest card at the city's Department of Human Resources (DHR) web site at www.honolulu.gov/hr. You will be notified via email when applications are being accepted.
